Lexi Thompson and Anna Nordqvist can get another chance to do combat this month at the Solheim Cup, two years from making one of the most contests in the history of the tournament.
Team USA arrive in Gleneagles as two-time defending champions following their 2015 success using a 16.5-11.5 triumph in Iowa in 2017, in which Thompson and Nordqvist’s sisters game lit up the last round.
Europe participant taking on the entire world No two lived up to expectations that were pre-match together with the duo going on to discuss the spoils, since the opening game of the day.
Thompson fought on the greens as Nordqvist birdied her opening four holes with American captain Juli Inkster coming out to the path to try and offer some support, to race four beforehand.
The lead stayed four in the turn following a concession in the ninth canceled Thompson’s two-putt birdie in the minute , only for her to kickstart her fightback by obeying a birdie at the 10th with a eagle in the next.
Thompson abandoned a birdie at the 13th and paired Nordqvist’s two in the par-three second, before picking up another shot at the second to return ahead and nailing a 20-foot eagle.
Neither player managed to get a shot in the 17th to leave Thompson going for Nordqvist, only in the last using a guide to flame her approach to five feet and knock at the birdie to grab a share of the spoils.
